Top 10 Direct Sales Companies for Pet Products 2020

If your a pet lover and are looking to make money on your own schedule, then a direct sales opportunity might be worth the consideration. And the good news is you’re in the right place. In this article we’ll be going over 10 direct sales companies for pet products that you can join today, if you want that is.

Direct sales, in a nutshell, is a business model that some companies use to market their products where they don’t sell in a retail setting, but rather they rely on an independent sales force of distributors to do the selling. This model is almost always coupled with a network marketing, or MLM (multi-level marketing), commission structure where distributors are also able to recruit in other distributors, build a team, and earn increasing commissions from the sales of others.

The companies listed in this article all offer these 2 main ways to earn money, which include selling products directly and recruiting others to sell products directly.

Here’s a snapshot of the list (these are in no particular order):

  1. pawTree
  2. Youngevity
  3. NeVetica
  4. Life’s Abundance
  5. Foxx Legacy
  6. Pet Protector
  7. HB Naturals
  8. Young Living
  9. Melaleuca
  10. Modere

Below I’ll be giving an overview of each opportunity, the types of pet products they sell, the compensation plan, cost to join and more.

Let’s begin…

1) pawTree

pawTree

pawTree is a MLM based out of Texas that is solely focused on pet products. The company was created to provide premium quality pet foods and treats, but they also sell additional pet products.

They have quite the product lineup, with a nice variety of high quality, and unique pet products. This includes everything from food seasonings, to toys, to doggy nutrition plans, potty training products and more. Some examples are:

  • pawPairings Asian Blend Superfood Seasoning – Combination of duck, chicken, red and green bell peppers, oranges and broccoli made into a dried powder food seasoning.
  • Chillax – Supplement consisting of an herbal remedy to help decrease anxiety in pets.
  • pawTreats – Nutritious dog and cat treats with ingredients like freeze dried beef, sweet potatoes, peas, carrots and more. Contain no grains and come in a variety of flavors.
  • Playful Pairs – A variety of different dog/cat toys.
  • Dog Foods – Healthy dog and cat food with real salmon, chicken, turkey, sweet potatoes, peas, spinach, blueberries and more. Grain-free.
  • Aches Away – Supplement to reduce pain and discomfort in pets.

This company certainly doesn’t skimp out when it comes to quality. Take their dog food as an example again. It contains no grain in the ingredients, instead containing healthy things like real salmon, peas, sweet potatoes, flaxseed, spinach and more… and it’s worth mentioning that they have a team of top veterinarians and people with PhD’s in Animal Science & Pet Nutrition that are formulating their products.

Comp Plan Overview:

pawTree’s compensation plan is pretty simple. They pay a flat 10% for Retail Commissions on all product volume sold, new and recurring. However, they offer Retail Power Bonuses where you can earn an additional 15-25% commission when you initially bring in new customers who purchase $100+ in product volume.

Additionally they have Product Pack Bonuses where a sponsor earns $50 when they bring in a new recruit that purchases the This Changes Everything Product Pack, which is a product package available for new members to purchase.

Team Commissions only pay down to 3 levels. However, there are 9 ranks total, and once you reach that of Vice President you can start earning Group Volume Overrides and Generation Overrides on top of that.

Cost to Join:

They offer $1 enrollment, which is great. However, this gives you access to the training, but only 6 months of custom website service.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Good variety of products
    • High quality and unique products (professionally formulated), which could help make sales easier
    • Inexpensive to get started
    • Low-cost enrollment fee
  • Cons
    • Low retail commission volume

2) Youngevity (For Tails Only Brand)

Youngevity

Youngevity is best known for their health and fashion products, but they also have product lineup called For Tails Only, which is their pet product selection. They don’t have quite the extensive product selection that pawTree offers, but since they are such a well-known and reputable direct sales company in other areas, with over 2,000 products, they had to make the list.

Based in California, Youngevity has been around for over 20 years and was created with a mission to improve the well-being of people and pets with a holistic and natural approach. The company was founded by Dr. Joel Wallach, who is known as a pioneer in bio-chemical research, having discovered a number of essential nutrients for optimum health.

Some products that a distributor could sell in their For Tails Only lineup include:

  • Travel Mist – Spray formulation with essential oils and minerals to help calm pet anxiety when traveling.
  • Breath-B-Clean – Dental cleaning foam that can easily be squirted into a dog’s mouth, leaving a minty freshness.
  • PerPETual – Anti-aging supplement that contains a variety of herbs and natural extracts.
  • ArthryDex – Amino acid and enzyme formulation to support healthy joints and improve mobility.
  • Crack Bars – Peanut butter and cheese crunchy treats for dots. All natural formulation.
  • Cat B-Clean – Waterless shampoo, perfect for water-hating cats.
  • Bark Bites – All-natural dog treats with eggs, coconut oil, pumpkin, powdered milk and more. Different flavors available.

As with all Youngevity products, there pet product are all top-quality and there is an emphasis on natural ingredients.

Comp Plan Overview:

Youngevity’s compensation plan is the same for their pet product lineup as it is for their other products.

They offer 30% Quick Start Bonus commissions from all products bought by distributors and customers that you refer in for a period of 30 days, and after that the commissions decreases to normal, which can be up to 20% depending on your rank.

As far as the MLM part of it goes, they call their compensation plan the Global Residual Comp Plan, and this provides distributors with the potential to earn down 9+ levels. Upon starting out as an Associate you will only be able to earn on the first 2 levels however. Unlocking additional earnings on deeper levels will require moving up the ranks, which there are 13 of in total.

Something else you see in the comp plan is a global revenue bonus pool, in which 1% of the revenue made by the company is distributed to associates.

Cost to Join:

New distributors will have to purchase a plan that includes a welcome pack, replicated website, and other business materials. $30 is the cheapest option and they get as expensive as several hundred dollars.

Additionally, there is a annual enrollment renewal fee of $49.95.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Well trusted company
    • Quality products
  • Cons
    • Large pet product selection
    • Costs money to get started

3) NeVetica

Nevetica

NeVetica is a rather new pet product direct sales company based in Maryland, having been founded in 2016. This company brings a premium lineup of products that probably aren’t for the average pet owner, but rather for those who have no problem spending a lot of money on their pet’s health.

One of the benefits that comes with this particular company is its Pet App, which is an app that makes it easy to shop for products, track pet fitness goals, watch training videos for your pet and more. It is something not many companies offer and could be selling point for distributors who join the business.

Products that the company brings to the table are high quality and pretty good overall. Some of these include:

  • Dental Chews – Crunchy dog chews that help break down tarter.
  • Water Additive Mouthwash – Liquid additive that can be mixed in with water that supports healthy teeth and gums. Contains peppermint oil.
  • Digestive Support – Soft-chews infused with aloe vera, rosemary, and other ingredients to support digestive health.
  • Calming Support – Soft-chews infused with green tea extract and lemon balm powder to help support relaxation and reduce stress.
  • Waterless Shampoo – Dry shampoo with lavender oil to support healthy skin & coat. Paraben-free.
  • Paw Protector – Beeswax and cacao mixture that can be applied topically to chapped/dry paws.

Additionally, there are product packages available where there is a bundle of products all thrown in one.

Comp Plan Overview:

The compensation plan here offers 9 ways to get paid and includes 14 different ranks. Retail sales commissions can be as high as 35%. Additionally they offer First Order Bonuses that pay up to 15% commissions on the sales that people beneath you make, going down 3 levels.

The main part of the plan, the uni-level compensation, pays down to 6 levels deep and pays 10% of the sales volume.

Other than that they also offer income match bonuses of up to 25% going down 6 levels, leadership advancement bonuses and even a global bonus pool.

Cost to Join:

The overall cost to join is a bit confusing, but the lowest cost Builder Pack is $199 and on top of that there is a monthly cost of $24.99 to maintain your replica NeVetica website.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Good product selection with quality ingredients
    • Unique products
    • Lots of ways to earn with the comp plan
  • Cons
    • Costs a good bit to get started

4) Life’s Abundance

LifesAbundance

Lifes Abundance was built around the belief that the body is a temple and health is of utmost importance. This company was founded in 1998 (but was quite different back then) and strives to provide optimal health within one’s home, which includes not only human health but also pet health.

This company has fared pretty well so far, with claims that 75% of their revenue comes from people ordering on a recurring basis, meaning that people really like their products.

Like most on this list, the products that this company provides are largely comprised of natural ingredients and tackle health problems with a holistic approach, as seems to be the trend nowadays. Besides the skin care products, supplements, cleaners and other human products, they have a good variety of pet products. Some of these include:

  • All Life Stages Dog Food – Natural dog food with anti-oxidants, omega-3’s & 6’s, vitamins, and no wheat.
  • Agility Formula – Joint support supplement for dogs. Formulated with glucosamine, MSM, sea mussles and hyaluric acid.
  • Skin & Coat Formula – Contains omega-3 fatty acids, 7 B vitamins, fish oil, and more for healthy skin and coat.
  • Turkey Hearts Freeze-Dried Treats – Treats made of free-range turkey and additional natural flavors.
  • Gourmet Cat Treats – Contains chicken, herring, and liver.
  • Ear Care Formula – Alcohol-free ear cleaner for removing dirt and wax. Consists of an herbal formula.
  • Revitalizing Shampoo – Contains natural fruit extract, rosemary, and sage, for an antioxidant filled natural shampoo.

The list provided here is just to give you an idea of some of what the company offers, but there is a lot more. This company in particular has a large variety of different treats and and foods, for both dogs and cats.

Comp Plan Overview:

As with most MLMs, with Life’s Abundance comp plan here you earn retail profit commissions which are the difference between the wholesale product prices and the retail prices… they don’t give clear numbers as to what the percentage of commissions are however. They also offer Quick Start Bonuses on the items that new recruits purchase, which are higher than the normal retail profit commissions. Additionally, Retail Bonuses are available and these range from 5-20% depending on the amount of personal sales you have per month. A 5% bonus starts off at just $50 of personal sales in any given month.

Foundation Bonuses are what they call their commission bonuses that are paid out on a uni-level structure. These pay down to 9 levels deep. There are 9 ranks total, going from that of 1-Star to 9-Star, and distributors start out at the rank of 1-Star earning from just one level.

Cost to Join:

The cost to join is under $40, although there are optional product packages that can get more pricey. However, there is also a recurring yearly renewal fee of $19.95. So all in all it’s not too bad, and something else worth mentioning is that this company doesn’t require distributors to purchase products regularly.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Affordable to get started
    • Good quality products
    • Lots of variety, especially with treats and foods
    • Not forced to purchase products
  • Cons
    • Comp plan commissions aren’t exactly clear
    • Costs money to get started

5) Foxx Legacy

Foxx Legacy

This is another direct sales/MLM company that sells both human and pet health products, and here there is also a big focus on natural ingredients. The company is based out of Wisconsin and its story starts out in the early 1900’s when four brothers started a Ginseng farm, and later opened Fromm Laboratories in an attempt to protect pet foxes they had… hence the name FoxxLegacy.

Their product lineup differs from those listed above. What FoxxLegacy is bringing to the table is a variety of concentrated formulas that come in dropper bottles. These include:

  • UltraMito Pet Life – Formulated with olive oil, oleocanthal, oleacein, hydroxytyrosol, and oleuropein for optimal overall health.
  • UltraMito Pet Recovery – Includes a blend of olive oil, oleocanthal, oleacein, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein, olive leaf extract, and CoQ10 to help pets recovery from injuries and/or surgery.
  • UltraMito Pet Allergy – Formulated with olive oil, oleocanthal, oleacein, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein, and olive leaf extract to help strengthen the immune systems of our pets so that they can avoid allergies.
  • UltraMito Pet Mobility – Contains olive oil, oleocanthal, oleacein, hydroxytyrosol, and oleuropein, and is supposed to help lubricate the joints and help with mobility issues in pets.

If you just read that list then you probably noticed that they all contain the same ingredients with little variation. However, we don’t know the exact amount of each ingredient in their proprietary blends, so this could differ.

Comp Plan Overview:

Foxx Legacy’s compensation plan is different from 95+% of the other MLMs out there, and not really so much in a good way. While most companies of this nature will pay percentage commissions for product sales, this place pays a flat rate of $5 per sale, which is hardly anything. If you do the math, this equal right around 10% or a bit less for most sales.

There are 11 ranks within the compensation plan and, based on limited information available, it seems you can earn commissions going down 5 levels, being $1-2. Besides this they also provide a Bonus Pool and a First Purchase Bonus where distributors can earn more when they reach high enough in the ranks.

Cost to Join:

There is no information on their website about how much it costs to get started. Information about this business opportunity is limited in general.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Unique products
  • Cons
    • Low compensation
    • Product formulas don’t seem all that great or vary much

6) Pet Protector

Pet Protector

Pet Protector is a brand by a company called GoldStar that is very unique compared with any other on the list. The entire brand is centered around a single product, which is called the Pet Protector.

It’s a unique technology. It doesn’t appear to be much, just a small metal disk that hangs on a dog’s collar, and looks like some sort of identification tag. However, this disk is made of high quality steel alloys and is charged with magnetic and scalar waves to improve blood circulation and supposedly “produce an invisible energy field around the entire animal’s body”, protecting from parasites like ticks and fleas.

It may sound crazy, but the company actually performed tests and the results came back great, such as the number of mosquito bites decreasing by 93.12% while dogs were wearing this piece of technology.

When it comes to the business opportunity one of the main highlights is their sales system. Distributors have the ability to purchase leads from the company. What this means is that you, as a distributor, pay the company to advertise for you, basically… but this is expensive.

Comp Plan Overview:

Retail commissions here range from 20-40% depending on your rank, which is decent. They also give out $15, $20, or $100 bonuses for selling the start up packages to new recruits, and another $50 bonus if you make one of these starter packages sales in the first 10 days.

The main part of the plan uses a binary structure, where distributors need to recruit in two people beneath them, those people recruit in two people each, and so on. Commissions from this binary plan range from 2-10%, depending on your rank, and are paid out on the product sales volume of the lesser leg of the binary structure (might be confusing if you are new to MLMs).

Cost to Join:

They offer a free 7-day trial so that you can test things out, but after that you’ll have to pay for a product package. The cheapest is just over $70 and the most expensive is close to $2,000. With the more expensive packages you are literally buying your way up the ranks, and unlocking more ways to earn right from the start.

Also take now that there are no monthly fees or sales quota.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Product is very unique
    • Proven to work (based on their tests… no 3rd party tests could be found)
    • Decent retail commission percentages
    • No monthly fees or sales quota
    • $1 trial to start
  • Cons
    • Only one product to sell
    • Advertising service offered is expensive

7) HB Naturals

HB Naturals

HB Naturals, aka Heart & Body Naturals, is a direct sales company that is based around the “life-enhancing Healing Trilogy products”, which are the formulation of Alexandria Brighton, a aromatherapy formulator, educator, and founder of a botanical studies institute with over 30 years of experience in natural healing remedies.

The company was also included in our list of CBD direct sales companies because of their extensive lineup of hemp-based products, but they also have many other products such as biomineral supplements, coffee, personal care products, weight loss products, and of course… a unique pet product lineup (which have hemp extract in them also).

Their pet products include:

  • 4 Paws – Hemp extract product for pets that features organic black seed and hemp seed oil to promote overall health.
  • Calm for Pets – Contains a variety of essential oils and hemp seed oil to help reduce pet anxiety.
  • Cold & Congestion – Also contains a variety of essential oils, such as eucalyptus, and hemp seed oil to help with respiratory problems.
  • Flea & Tick Repellent – Combination of essential oils here is intended to keep fleas and ticks away when sprayed on.
  • Itch Relief – Another spray product concocted with essential oils and hemp seed oil… and is aimed at soothing irritated skin.
  • Pet Wellness – Blend of essential oils and hemp seed oil aimed at improving immune health.
  • Relief – Spray-on blend of oils that provide relief from joint pain and help improve movement

Most of the products here are similar, but contain different essential oils in different combinations, depending on their purpose. What makes them unique is that, as you can tell, the benefits of hemp seed oil is spotlighted and included in every product.

Comp Plan Overview:

The HB Naturals comp plan has 7 different ways to earn and a total of 12 ranks.

Retail commissions are set at 50% of the commissionable volume, which is less than 50% of the sales price but is still pretty good. On top of this you have Fast Start Bonuses where you can earn 20% from orders that distributors you’ve recruited in make along with 3% and 2% from levels 2 and 3.

There is also a Matrix Bonus, that pays out up to $1 for every qualifying order of 50 CV or higher (this is a 2 x 17 matrix so this can really add up), and they have the Binary Bonus where up to 12% commissions can be earned on the side with lesser sales volume. Additionally, there are Binary Match Commissions going down 7 generations (levels) and Rank Advancement Bonuses.

Cost to Join:

This is one of the few that are free to join, no product package required.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Trendy products (hemp-based products are popular)
    • All natural and unique products formulated by a well-known industry professional
    • No cost to join
  • Cons
    • Not all that much product variation

8) Young Living

Young Living

Young Living is the most well-known direct sales company of essential oils there is out there, having been founded in 1994 and growing to become a world-wide business. There products are all high quality. Ingredients are sourced from only the best farms and they have what they call the “most technologically advanced essential oil distillery in North America”, which could be true.

What many people might not realize is that besides their essential oil human products, they also sell pet products with special blends, and more… for which they have their own veterinary advisory council to help with the formulations. Their pet product lineup is branded as “Animal Scents”, and includes:

  • Animal Scents Ointment – Hydrating salve containing essential oils and free of parabens and other harmful chemicals.

With the Young Living comp plan distributors can earn up to 24% on Retail Commissions along with a Fast Start Bonus of 25% from the orders of newly enrolled members and 10% from enrollers on your 2nd level. Other bonuses can be earned when a newly recruited member purchase a premium starter kit and more.

The main part of the plan is the uni-level commission plan. There are 12 ranks total and climbing up the ranks could provide a chance to earn commissions going down 5 levels and 8 generations.

Cost to Join:

New distributors will have to purchase a starter kit. The lowest cost here is $35 for a Basic Starter Kit, with more expensive options costing up to $250.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Well trusted company
    • Loads of high quality products to sell (besides just pet products)
    • Trendy products (everyone has heard of essential oils at this point)
    • Decent retail commissions
  • Cons
    • Costs money to get started

9) Melaleuca

Melaleuca

Melaleuca is known as “the wellness company”, starting out with the mission to enhance lives and help people reach their goals, whether that be losing weight, improving health, etc. The company started out small in 1985, but has since grown to now have over 400 products and brings in over $2 billion in revenue each year. Like most, natural ingredients are a priority in their products, which include everything from multivitamins to candles to dog shampoo and much more.

Their pet care selection isn’t that extensive, but it does exist and is an option for those looking to get into direct sales of pet products. The list includes:

  • ProCare Pet Shampoo – Features jojoba oil and melaleuca oil to clean and provide a moisturizing shine to dogs’ coats. Does contain sulfates and artificial colorings.
  • ProCare Premium Jerky Treats for Dogs – Natural treats containing salmon, yellow peas, black beans and sweet potatoes. No grain or gluten.
  • ProCare Hip + Joint Treats for Dogs – Formulated with glucosamine, chondroitin, and other ingredients to help relieve joint pain… and of course barbecue flavoring for taste.
  • ProCare Skin + Coat Treats for Dogs – Formulated with biotin, Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins for optimal skin and coat health.
  • ProCare Premium Cat Dental Treats – Chicken flavored treats for cats. Also contains rosemary and pea protein, but no grain or gluten.

Comp Plan Overview:

Retail commissions here for new customers you bring in are 50% of the product points for the first 3 months (product points aren’t equivalent to price). After that the commissions will drop to 7-20%, depending on how many active customers you have.

Downline commissions are paid out on a uni-level structure and there is the potential to earn down to 7 generations deep. You earn 7% of product points from sales that others in your downline make.

A number of bonuses are also available, including Advancement Bonuses when you move up the ranks, Pacesetter Bonuses which are for advancing up the ranks within a certain amount of time, a Right Start Bonus if you make it to the rank of Director within the first 2 months of joining, Mentoring Bonuses when your recruits advance up the ranks, and more.

Cost to Join:

The cost to join as a Preferred Customer is $19 (they call their distributors customers too), and there is a minimum monthly order requirement of either 35 or 75 product points. However, there are additional fees that you also have to consider, such as the $14.95/mo fee for one of their ready-to-go websites.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Lots of products in total, and high quality
    • Well established brand
  • Cons
    • Not much variety in pet products to choose from
    • Cost money to get started

10) Modere

Modere

Modere is another option you have that doesn’t focus specifically on pet products, but does have a few. They have been around for over 30 years and are devoted to healthy, clean-label products. Being the large wellness company they are, products are focused on skincare, weight loss, anti-aging, personal care, and a whole selection of products centered around collagen and its benefits for healthy skin, hair, and overall health… and they hold patents around their collagen formulations.

The company’s history can be traced back to 1987, but has changed a lot over the years. It was well known as Neways before being rebranded as Modere, in what some call an attempt to get away from the past history of legal battles.

The pet products are few, and the ones they do sell contain “Liquid BioCell”, which is a patented type-II collagen formulation also containing hyaluronic acid. These products include:

  • Liquid BioCell Pet – Collagen/hyaluronic acid matrix to support joint health and mobility.
  • Liquid BioCell Equine – Collagen/hyaluronic acid matrix to support joint health and mobility in horses. Also helps maintain a healthy coat.

Comp Plan Overview:

Modere’s compensation plan differs a lot from most MLMs. It’s almost like there are 2 different compensation plans put together, one for commissions you earn from regular customers and one with commissions you earn from recruiting in distributors.

There are 10 “Promoter” ranks (rankings based on customer sales). When you start out you only earn 5% commissions on product sales, which is hardly anything. However, this number can be increased to 36% at most when you move up the ranks, which of course requires selling more products and building a team of distributors. But just getting to the next tier up on the commission chart, 18% commissions, requires at least 500 customer points (based on monthly sales to customers) a month and at least 5 active customers.

There are 8 “Builder” ranks (rankings based on recruitment and team building). Here you can earn monthly Team Builder Bonuses and others, but the core here is the Generational Uni-level commission pay, which pays down to 8 generations deep.

Cost to Join:

To join the business opportunity it only costs $29.95. However, there is also the requirement of 150 Activity Points or 75 Marketing points SmartShip each month to receive commissions and stay active. Without getting too into it here, this basically means that early on you will probably need to purchase products via SmartShip just to stay active.

Pros v Cons:

  • Pros
    • Reputable company
    • Quality products and patented formulas
    • Affordable to get started
  • Cons
    • Small pet product selection
    • Monthly requirements to receive commissions
    • Cost money to get started

Top 2 Picks

If the list had to be narrowed down to just the top 2 choices for direct sales pet product opportunities, then our top picks would be:

  1. pawTree because they are completely focused on pet products, have a unique and high quality product lineup, and you can get started for just $1.
  2. NeVetica because they are also solely focused on pet products and have a nice selection of unique, high quality products.

But this certainly doesn’t mean that these two opportunities are the best fit for you. Some of the other opportunities from direct sales businesses that sell human products offer more opportunities. It all depends on what you are looking for.

A Word of Warning

We want to leave you with realistic expectations moving forward. A lot of people get recruited into direct sales/MLM businesses thinking that they are going to achieve financial freedom and have the ability to work whenever their heart desires. While this is possible, it certainly is a rare occurrence.

A not-so-fun fact: Some studies suggest that 99% of MLM participants actually lose money. We actually wrote an entire post about high MLM failure rates to help warn people.

It’s not that you can’t make money or that they are bad choices… it’s just that they are more difficult to make money in than many are led to believe… and failure rates are high. This is largely due to their pyramid-like commission structure where commissions are funneled from those at the bottom to the few at the top. And this is a big reason we highly recommend affiliate marketing over MLM opportunities, because with affiliate marketing you don’t share commissions.
