Wealthy Affiliate – The Only Training You’ll Ever Need

[This is my top recommended program for beginners looking to create an online income]

Hi, I'm Kyle, and welcome to my review of Wealthy Affiliate. If you know me, then you know that I've been making money online after getting started in 2015.

Wealthy Affiliate was one of the first programs I came across. I had encountered a few scams and was weary with trying out new systems/programs, but it looked promising so I gave it a shot... and am extremely happy that I did.

What Is Wealthy Affiliate?

In a nutshell, it is a training platform that teaches people how to make money online, mainly via affiliate marketing. 

It is like an all-inclusive type of deal. But instead of a vacation package where you get a plane ticket, hotel and excursions included.... with Wealthy Affiliate you get the step-by-step training, the tools needed to take action, a community you can communicate with, and support in case you need help.

Affiliate Marketing Explained:

Affiliate marketing is when you promote products online and earn commissions when you help make sales. The good thing about this business model is that you don't need your own products. You simply promote products that you like and that are proven to sell.

It is a great way for beginners to get started because of its simplicity and low startup cost.

How It Works - The Process

Wealthy Affiliate teaches you how to build a website, get traffic to that website, and make money promoting products (affiliate marketing).

The process of how it works...

1. A customer searches for something on Google
2. They come across your website and visit it
3. You direct them to buy products on some online store (Amazon, Walmart, etc)
4. If they purchase the product you earn a commission

Sound Complicated?

Don't worry, it really isn't.

Here Is the 4-Step Process that you will go through in the training at Wealthy Affiliate so that you can make money like this...

Step 1: Choose a Niche

The first thing you will be doing at WA is choosing a niche. This is the focus of your website. Preferably you want to choose something you have interest in or already know about.

But you definitely don't have to be an expert.

Your niche could be... well... anything really.

Just to give you some examples, you could target things like...

• Playing the guitar
• Basketball equipment
• Traveling in southeast Asia
• Yoga
• How to play ping pong
• Cooking
• Organic eating
• And so on...

Step 2: Build Your Website

The next step is to build your website. It will be a small blog-type of website, nothing complicated.

And by the way... THIS IS NOT HARD TO DO! 

I know this is where a lot of people get worried. But don't worry, it isn't the 1990's anymore and you definitely don't need to know anything about coding. It is simple nowadays and when I started out I didn't know a thing about any of it either.

Your site will be centered around your chosen niche.

Step 3: Get Traffic to Your Site

Once you have your site in place it is time to get some traffic. Of course you can't make any money without anyone visiting your site.

There are different ways to go about getting traffic, both free and paid methods. Luckily, at WA the focus is on free methods, and getting free traffic from search engines like Google in particular. I think this is a good route to take because it is less risky. However, the downside is that it takes longer.

There is some focus on paid advertising, which you can get faster results with and is great if you have extra money, but the free methods are best for most beginners.

Step 4: Monetize That Traffic

Once you have traffic you will be able to monetize it in a number of different ways. Of course the main focus is on affiliate marketing.

• If your website is about cat toys you could promote... well... cat toys
• If your site is about cooking you could promote recipes, cookware, etc
• If your site is about health & wellness you could promote supplements, weight loss pills, diet plans and a lot more

There are many things you can promote in just about any niche.

WA also will show you how to monetize your site with ads through Google Adsense and others. This way you will be able to have multiple streams of income coming in.

Now That I've Went Over How It Works, Let's Take a Look Inside At What You Get..

The Training

I have went through the training in its entirety and can tell you that it is pretty darn good. 

I really like the way it is laid out and. It's simple. You go through each lesson and there will be tasks that you have to complete before going to the next lesson, which keeps you accountable and forces you to take the action you need to take.

Also, there are plenty of video tutorials, which I find very effective. You will be guided through much of the process. And... if you can't listen to a video for some reason, they also have the lessons written out.

Just to give you an idea of what you are looking at here, below is a screenshot of the different lessons in course 1 of the training.

*Note: This is just course 1. There are 5 courses total in the "core" training... along with additional training.

Live Training: In addition to the structured step-by-step training that is already all laid out for you, you will also get access to live training. 

Each week one of the coaches at WA, Jay who is an expert in this, holds a live webinar where he goes over various things related to this business and teaches you tricks, gives you tips, etc. There is also additional live training at times.

The Tools

As mentioned, you will also get access to the tools necessary to do this kind of work. This includes things like the website builder, the keyword research tool, website hosting and more.

The Website Builder - This makes building out your website simple and straightforward. You simply choose your domain (or use an existing domain if you already have one), give it a title, and select the design you want...

*Note: This is NOT some type of "done-for-you" system. This simply creates the initial framework of your website. It isn't going to spit out a completely made website that is ready to make money.

The Keyword Research Tool - As a member you will get access to a keyword research tool called Jaaxy. This tool is available to be purchased all by itself outside of Wealthy Affiliate, but since it is created by the creators or Wealthy Affiliate, you get free access, which is awesome.

What the heck is a keyword research tool? I know most people probably don't know, and this is completely normal.

You will learn what it is and how to use it in the training. Basically all you need to know right now is that it helps you rank higher in the search engines like Google so that you can get more traffic.

Website Hosting - When I say Wealthy Affiliate is "all inclusive", I mean it. They provide state-of-the-art hosting for your websites so that you can manage everything from this single platform.

The website hosting is fast, you get free SSL security, website backups regularly, spam protection, email accounts and more.

The Community

One thing that everyone loves about WA is the community. They really hit the nail on the head with how they structured this all and really made it a hub for active communication. 

The community is very lively. There are multiple ways you can connect with other members, such as...

• Through blogs
• Live chat
• Private messages (PMs)
• Training discussions
• Posting on their profile

Below I took a screenshot to give you an idea of what it looks like inside the WA dashboard. As you can see there is a section with the top 10 blog posts of the day, which has tons of activity (lots of comments and likes) along with the live chat feature over on the right side of the screen... lots of activity...

Support

One thing is for sure... you WILL get stuck at some point and need some extra support. 

The training is laid out great and is easy to follow, but there is bound to be something you will need help on.

Luckily, getting help is easy. There are several ways you can go about doing it. Inside your account you will see a tab on the left-hand menu called "help center". This includes...

• SiteSupport - This is the 24/7 tech support for your website
• LiveChat - Here you can ask questions about anything and get answers within minutes, sometimes seconds
• Ask a Question - You can post a question for the community to answer
• Private Message - Here you can directly PM someone and get direct responses that no one else can see

Why I Think Wealthy Affiliate Works So Well

You certainly aren't guaranteed success, and people do fail as they do with any online business, but Wealthy Affiliate is the best training program I have come across over the years and I think it is mainly due to several reasons...

#1 - It's All-Inclusive

You get the training. You get the tools. You get the support, whether it be from the support team or the community.

What else do you need?

WA provides all you need to get started and this makes it so much more simple for beginners. You get the training needed to learn the process and teach you how to do everything. You get the tools so that you can build your website, host it, and make money with it. And, you get the support that you are bound to need at some point.

#2 - Give & Take Credit System

I didn't talk at all about this, but WA has a credit system within the platform. It is basically a form of currency that you can use and earn by doing certain things, such as being active in the community, creating training and so on.

This system is what helps keep the community so active and so helpful. There is incentive to be helpful. It's like a mini economy inside WA.

#3 - They Go Above & Beyond

WA also provides a lot that you don't really need, but that does help.

For example they have what you call SiteComments and SiteFeedback.

SiteComments is a feature where you can use credits (as just mentioned) to get comments on your website. You can get comments on any page/post you want to... and genuine comments from other members. This not only makes your website look more lively and professional, but it also can help with your rankings in the search engines.

SiteFeedback is another feature you can use credits with, except here you get feedback on your website from other members instead of comments. This is particularly good for beginners who aren't sure about what they are doing and want some tips on making their site better.

Cost of Membership

Wealthy Affiliate has 2 memberships, a free Starter Membership and a paid Premium Membership

Starter Membership:

This membership is designed for people just starting out and is what I always recommend starting with. You will get access to the beginners training and will also get all the tools needed to get going, including a FREE website (didn't mention that yet).

With this membership there is no risk at all. It allows you to test out the system before paying a single cent. And it's none of that free trial crap where you get charged if you forget to cancel. You don't even enter your credit card info or anything.

*Note: Not only is the membership free, but you also are provided with all you need to get started, meaning that you will literally not pay any startup cost.

Premium Membership:

With the Premium Membership you get access to everything... all the tools, the training, support, etc. If you are a starter member and like what you see, you are probably going to want to upgrade to this membership.

There are different costs depending on how you pay.

• $49/mo if you pay monthly
• ​Only $29/mo if you pay yearly
  • Less than $1 a day... that's much less than being a Starbucks regular

Of course the yearly payment option is the best deal, but it also comes with the most commitment, which is actually a good thing in many cases.

Conclusion

Joining Wealthy Affiliate back in 2015 was well worth it for me. I never thought I'd be able to make it this far, and never really expected it, but I now make a living online which most people only dream of.

Since joining there have been some big changes to the platform, all of which are good. The training has been updated regularly, new features have been added and so on. This place is always evolving to be the best, which is why it is the best out there.

A lot of programs you find out there have outdated information, lack support, aren't very active.... WA is not one of them.

FAQs

1. How much money can you make?

This is not an easy question to answer. The reason being that results vary a lot.

There are many people I know that make over $10,000 a month doing this, and some even more. Then again, there are those that make just a few hundred a month and some that fail.

There is no limit really. And there is definitely plenty of potential out there.... lots of products you can promote and lots of money to be made.

2. How long does it take to make money?

I know just about everyone is wondering this and unfortunately it is another question that is difficult to answer. 

Again, results vary A LOT.

It depends on many variables, such as how much work and time you put into it, how focused you stay, the niche you choose and so on.

That said, you shouldn't expect to make any money within... say... 3 months. I'm not saying that you can't make money sooner. I'm just saying don't expect to. This method takes some time to get going, but it can definitely pay off.

So this obviously is not a "get rich quick" type of deal and wouldn't really be suitable for someone who is in need of immediate money.

3. Do you work for yourself when you do this?

Yes you do. You are essentially your own boss. You don't work "for" companies, but rather "with" companies when you promote their products.

As an affiliate marketer you are considered an independent contractor.

There are a lot of perks to this, such as not having to deal with a boss breathing down your nose, being able to work at your own pace and such, but there are also some downsides.

You MUST be self-motivated and disciplined if you want to be successful with this. You will have to push yourself because you won't have a boss to push you.

4. Is this really free to get started with?

The Starter Membership at Wealthy Affiliate is completely free. When you sign up you don't even enter any payment info.

This membership isn't going to give you access to everything, but it does give you access to everything you need to get started. It allows you to "test drive" the system so to speak.

I always recommend starting out here. Sign up your free Starter Membership and go from there.

5. What if I have no tech skills?

This really doesn't matter.

Sure, there are some perks to being some computer genius, but it isn't necessary. You have all the tech support you need behind the scenes at WA.

And when I say this I mean it. I'm not talking about some crappy tech support that gives you a bunch of vague answers through an online chat. I'm talking about a team of fully-trained engineers that often times will go in and solve the problems you have for you, without you lifting a finger.

6. Who created Wealthy Affiliate?

The creators are Kyle and Carson.... a different Kyle of course (not I).

I was lucky enough to get the chance to meet these two guys in Vegas in January 2019. I didn't know what to expect and was surprised how normal and down to earth they were.

One of the nice things about this platform is that Kyle and Carson do what they teach. They started out affiliate marketing and still live the life... practicing what they preach.
